In this article, we describe the differences between the so-called KSeF 2.0 environments during development.

TEST environment (test) available from November 3rd, 2025

  1. The test environment is used to test new KSeF 2.0 API functionalities.
  2. Documents sent in the test environment are not invoices and have no legal effect.
  3. Real data must not be used in the test environment—anonymized data must be used.
  4. A test certificate can be used instead of a qualified signature.
It is only for practice purposes; we do not use real data, and the “invoices” are completely fictitious.

PRE-PRODUCTION (DEMO) environment available from November 15, 2025

  1. It works with real authentication data consistent with the registers.
  2. It requires actual taxpayer authorizations—just like production.
  3. It works similarly to the production environment.
  4. Documents “issued” in DEMO are not real invoices and do not have any tax implications.
This is a “dress rehearsal” before KSeF. We log in with a real signature or trusted profile, everything works as it does in production, but the documents are only test documents.
Authentication in DEMO does NOT carry over to production—you have to do it again in PROD.

PRODUCTION environment (prod) available from February 1, 2026, and then April 1, 2026

  1. It is based on the taxpayer's real authentication data.
  2. The documents sent there are fully valid invoices.
  3. These invoices enter into economic circulation and are sent to the tax office.
  4. Sending test data to production is prohibited—because once a KSeF number is assigned, it becomes a real invoice with tax obligations.
